Last Month Strategy For A MDCAT Student

Last Month Strategy For A MDCAT Student

Every year about 2 lac plus students appear for the Medical College entrance test, and out of them, only two to three thousand students clear the test.

But, the number of appearing candidates number increases every year coz of improved students.

I was in the first batch of the Pakistan Medical Commission, who took the test at the National level all over the country, and Alhamdullilah I cleared that with 159 out of 200.

As this year's test will be held on 27th August under the supervision of PMDC at the provincial levels.

I was thinking to give some tips and last month's strategy to all those applicants who are going to appear this year.

Revision?

You all should have completed your syllabus at least one time before 1 month of the test.

As the test is on 27th August, so you must have completed the syllabus on 27th July, if not? then try to complete it as soon as possible.

From day 1 of last month start revision from your notes, that you have taken. If you don't have any notes, then try to take someone else notes or just take a book.

In starting, give 2 days for revision to every subject, then as you completed 1st revision, then continuously decrease the time of revision as the number of revisions increases.

Continue this till 2 days before the test.

MCQ's Practice

I think this is the main part of your MDCAT Preparation. You should have started this at the beginning of the preparation.

But, if you don't have started so far. Then, do start MCQ's practice from the Day 1 of last month. Every day try to solve 1 FLP (Full-Length Paper), you would get a lot of MCQs on Facebook or WhatsApp groups.

But, if you don't have any, then for all those students I will share the link here, where you will get these MCQs.

When I was appearing for National MDCAT, in the last complete month, I did FLPs only.

After doing those MCQs, I checked them, and whatever topic I had a mistake, then I gave revision to that topic.

Mistake Book

This is a concept that I got from a YouTuber and an Indian doctor, Anuj Pachhel. According to him, he discovered this concept.

A mistake book is like a normal notebook, where you write all the mistakes that you are doing while you are preparing for a particular exam.

Like if you are preparing for MDCAT, and you have started MCQs practice through FLPs. So, whatever mistakes you are doing, just write down them in sequence in that notebook.

So, in the end, when you have done a lot of revisions and mcqs practice, and you have reached a stage where you think of enough, at that stage you will have to give multiple reads to that mistake book.

So, in the test, the chances of repeating that particular mistake become zero, and your confidence boosts to 100x.

Day Before Test

Whatever your queries are, try to solve them before the evening of that night as if the test is on the 27th, then try to solve all your queries before the evening of the 26th of July.

What I did, before test day. I made a conference call with 3 other friends and had fun for about 2 hours on that call. And, I didn't read a single word on that day.

So, try to have some fun last night either through a call to friends or an outing with them.

You must have 8 hours of sleep before the test so that your mind should be fresh during the test.

I would suggest you give 1 or 2 reads to the mistake book one day before the test, and that's all for that day.

Don't try to learn new concepts or facts coz they will give you some kind of anxiety before the test of Not Knowing Them.

Wrap-Up

I think this is all that I would suggest to you from my experience with MDCAT. Whatever your level of preparation is, just believe in yourself, Inshallah you will achieve your goals.

75% is your Attitude and 25% is your preparation that determines the results. Till today, you had worked on 25%, now try to work on the remaining major part, which is Attitude.
